Industrial CD production in Langenhagen began on 17 August 1982. Today these shiny discs (CD / DVD) are still produced by the same process - and from the same material, namely polycarbonate. However, in Langenhagen technology and logistics have advanced greatly to take account of the enormous increase in production - from 376,000 in 1982 to around 155 million in 2004.
